I have dry hopped a few times but I always use a small hop spider. Is it more effective to just toss the hops in? I am just trying to reduce the vegetal matter in the bottom of the fermenter. So I dont get it in the keg. Thanks

Hey Ralf, thanks for the question. In my opinion a hop spider or hop sock bag is a great way to avoid getting the hop material in your final beer. If you use this method, just make sure you do a quick hopping. Put the hops in your beer during the end of active fermentation and then yank them out after 24-48 h. The goodness from the hops can actually leach out into the beer as quick as 2 hours from what I understand. If you leave the bag in during maturation and then only take it out during racking you may risk adding a little more oxygen than you would want. Best,
